A bedroom is a private abode to unleash their imagination and express themselves. Therefore, bedroom interiors should be lively and appealing. Safety and creativity are two essential components to keep in mind when designing kids’ bedroom furniture. Combine that with favourite colours and animated characters to create the perfect ambience. There are innumerable options to make kids’ and teen furniture look trendy and fashionable. Rocking Chairs Rocking chairs are great additions to kids’ bedroom. Children love movement and the swaying motion of rocking chairs are just perfect. Some rocking chairs come with storage within the seat which is great for keeping toys and books. Rocking chairs are usually made of plastic, wood, etc. and come in many shapes and sizes. Playpen Playpens and playards are great for toddlers. It keeps them safe when parents or guardians are away. Modern playpens also come attached with a play area. Some other attachments include storage area, change table, mobile's, music box and night lights. Portable playpens are of different sizes, most can be disassembled for easy transport. Beds Beds are the most important piece of furniture in the kid’s room. You must make sure they are located in a prominent position in the room, away from the window. If you have two kids sharing the room, bunk beds are a great option as they save lots of space. Ensure there is some kind of symmetry to avoid a tacky look. Twin beds can match with any theme and are very functional. Some beds also have storage areas for bedding, toys and other stuff. Chairs and Tables It is very important to create the right atmosphere for the kids to study. Colourful desks with a unique form and shape are great to inspire creativity. A study table with room for computer or laptop is also a good option. If it is facing a wall, you can also put up a drawing board to hold stickies and to-do lists and inspire organization. If the desk faces a window, your kid can enjoy some natural sunlight and possibly be inspired by the view. Make sure the study table has its own lighting area and has sufficient space to keep the clutter out. The design of the chair must stimulate a healthy body posture and be comfortable in height and width to keep them focused. Art gallery There is nothing more inspiring and motivating for kids than seeing their art on display even if it is in their own room. Dedicating a wall to form a mini art gallery can inspire them to create more works of art — paintings, installations, writings, etc. A small library is also a great addition especially if your child enjoys reading. Baby cribs For new parents, a baby crib or bassinet is a mandatory piece of furniture. If you have a specific theme for a nursery, you can model the crib to reflect the theme. There are also convertible cribs available in the market which can be used as twin beds after the baby has grown up. Most cribs have adjustable mattress height, supports and release mechanisms. Dressers and Chests Dressers and chests should be relative to the child’s height. There are a plethora of options available with easy assembly, adjustable compartments, color and size. A chest of drawers is a good substitute for smaller spaces which do not fit a dresser. For a younger child, a chest with three drawers would be sufficient whereas for an older and taller child, a chest with six drawers is more ideal. Online furniture stores carry a diverse selection of kids’ furniture. Some of these may be ready made, others may require some assembly. To add some personal touch, hand make certain items at home like pillow cushion covers, mobiles, wall hangings, etc. Most theme-based furniture will grow out of style or interest, so invest in them wisely. Attention to style and functionality creates a healthy equilibrium. Most of all, ensure that the living space is vibrant, dynamic and oozes a lot of energy and colour.
